Fanni Fazakas better known by her stage name RUMEX is an audiovisual artist and music producer. RUMEX is a classically trained musician, she was raised in a family of classical musicians and has been playing the piano for twelve years. Her mission is to formulate hybrid styles within today’s popular bass music and blend together with jazz, classical music and her own unique field recordings from remote tribes. RUMEX graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design where she studied Media Design. Currently she is at New York University, ITP Master Program. Her focus is on VR/AR/MR and film techniques, generative music and visual programming. Since 2015 she is working closely with a neuroscience team called MuArts to create interactive art forms and even music controlled by brainwaves.
At the imPro Budapest School of Music Technology - she received extensive training in composing, sound design and engineering. She performed with her electronic Live Shows in Budapest, Berlin, Umea and Amsterdam at different Music Tech Festivals. Her first songs were used in different commercials such as: UK Football, CTM Berlin Hacklab, Stantec Boston and BAWA Animal Welfare Association in Bali. At the Amsterdam Dance Event via 4DSOUND, RUMEX had the chance to work together with Stimming, Max Cooper and Peter Kirn as their visual artist. She was deeply influenced by these artist’s work and the 4DSOUND system. She decided to operate as project manager at the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest for two years. She is currently finishing her next LIVE set and EP which is based on bass heavy music and field recordings of geological sound she recently collected in New Zealand and South - East Asia
Innovation keeps coming: Rumex recently created her interactive AV performance -Solid Lure - on the 4D sound system, one of the most forward thinking sound systems worldwide. It allows her to move individual sound sources in all four dimensions in real time while the audience stands inside the music itself. Rumex performed all over Europe on a regular basis and recently moved to New York to discover new possibilities in the club scene on the other side of the globe.
